Frontier’s zoo sim sequel lands on PC on October 13, 2026, and the spec sheet is more demanding than the first game’s. If you’re sitting on a laptop from 2018, read this before you pre-order. Here are the Planet Zoo 2 system requirements, and what you can expect at each level.
Minimum Planet Zoo 2 System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB), AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6 GB) or Intel Arc A750 (8 GB)
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 40 GB, SSD recommended
Recommended Requirements
- OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB), AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB) or Intel Arc A770 (16 GB)
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 40 GB, SSD required
What to Expect at Each Tier
The minimum list needs a ray-tracing-era card, so GTX 10-series owners are out of luck. An RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 5 3600 should run the game, but expect lower settings and smaller zoos before the frame rate starts to wobble. Park builders know the pattern: the simulation load grows with every animal, guest and path you add, so a dense late-game park hits the CPU harder than the opening hours do.

The recommended tier is the one to aim for if you plan to build big. An RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT paired with a Ryzen 7 5800X should hold high settings at 1080p and handle 1440p with some tuning. Note that 16 GB of RAM is listed for both tiers, so a RAM upgrade will not help much, but running a browser and Discord alongside the game will push you close to the limit.
One practical detail: the recommended tier says an SSD is required, and Frontier warns that Windows 10 support has ended, so compatibility there is not guaranteed. If you are still on Windows 10, plan the upgrade.

Release Date, Platforms and Price
Planet Zoo 2 releases on October 13, 2026, developed and published by Frontier Developments. On PC it is on Steam, Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, and Steam lists it at $49.99. Console versions are also planned. Because these specs come from the pre-release store pages, they can still change at launch, so check the Steam page once the game is live.

The Downsides to Know About
The hardware bar is the biggest one. A GPU that was fine for the original will probably not be enough here, and the 40 GB install is another reason to clear space first. If your PC sits below the minimum list, waiting for early player reports and a first patch is the safer move than buying on day one.
