Star Trek: Outposts Unknown lands on Steam on October 20, 2026. It is a single-player outpost builder from Magic Fuel Games, published by Playstack, and it is the first colony builder set in the Star Trek universe. You research technology, assign crew, manage resources and deal with a cosmic threat in the X’Lehari System. The hardware ask is modest, with one catch: 16 GB of RAM is required even at the minimum tier.
Minimum Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 (version 21H1), 64-bit
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8500
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1660 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (8 GB)
- Storage: 10 GB available space
Recommended Requirements
- OS: 64-bit processor and operating system
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Intel Core i5-14600K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
- Storage: 10 GB available space
What to Expect at Each Tier
The minimum spec is a GTX 1660 class card with a six-year-old Ryzen 5, which most budget gaming PCs from the last several years can cover. Expect 1080p at lower or medium settings. Builders tend to lean on the CPU more than the GPU once your outpost grows, so a late-game colony with lots of crew and buildings is where an older processor will show strain.
The recommended list is the stranger one. A Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with an RTX 3060 is an unbalanced pairing, and the X3D chip is a hint that simulation load matters here. If you have a mid-range card and a recent six-core CPU, you are probably fine for 1080p or 1440p at high settings. Treat the recommended CPU as a ceiling for smooth large colonies, not a hard requirement. We will update this page once reviews and benchmarks show how it actually runs.
Two practical points: the 10 GB install is small, so any SSD works, and 16 GB of RAM leaves little room for a browser full of tabs. Close the extras before a long session.
