Way of the Hunter 2 leaves Early Access and launches in full on September 29, 2026. It comes from Nine Rocks Games and THQ Nordic, and it has been playable on PC since March. The 1.0 version also arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Before you spend $34.99 on Steam, here is what your PC needs.

Recommended Requirements
- OS: Windows 11 (64-bit)
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X or Intel Core i5-14600K
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 38 GB available space
These numbers come from the Steam page, which still notes that requirements may change. Check the store listing again on launch day, since the 1.0 build could shift them.
What to Expect at Each Tier
The minimum spec is not gentle. An RTX 2060 is a 2019 card, and a hunting sim with long sight lines, dense foliage and animals that react to wind and sound is heavy on both CPU and GPU. Expect 1080p at lower settings, and turn down foliage and shadow quality first if frame rate dips while you scan a ridge.
The recommended tier is the one aimed at a smooth experience at higher settings. If you play at 1440p, a card at or above the RTX 4060 Ti class gives you more room. Note that both tiers list 16 GB of RAM and Windows 11 only. Windows 10 is not listed, so anyone still on it should verify compatibility before buying.
The 38 GB install is moderate for a 2026 release, but an SSD is the sensible place for it. Open landscapes stream in as you move, and a slow hard drive tends to show up as stutter.
Release Date, Platforms and Price
Way of the Hunter 2 launches September 29, 2026 on PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam price is $34.99. You hunt in two regions, New Laurentia (North America) and Kilimaya Reserve (Africa), with a hunting dog companion, a shot review camera that replays trajectory and placement, and a customizable lodge for trophies.
One trade-off to keep in mind: the PC version has been in Early Access for six months, so if you already own it you may be a step ahead. If you are buying fresh, read recent Steam reviews after launch to see how the 1.0 build performs on hardware close to yours before you commit.
