AION 2 launches worldwide on October 5, 2026, and the good news is that NCSoft kept the hardware bar low for a modern MMORPG. If you have a gaming PC from the last six or seven years, you are probably fine. Here are the official Steam numbers, plus what they mean in practice.
Minimum Requirements
- OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500
- GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)
- RAM: 8 GB
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available (SSD recommended)
- Network: Broadband connection
NCSoft adds a note: at 1080p, set the graphics preset to Very Low to stay compatible.
Recommended Requirements
- OS: Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070 (8 GB)
- RAM: 16 GB
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available (SSD recommended)
- Network: Broadband connection
For the recommended tier, the 1080p note changes to the Low preset.
What to Expect at Each Tier
On the minimum spec, expect Very Low settings at 1080p. That works for leveling and solo content, but busy hubs and large group fights are where an MMO tends to struggle, and a GTX 1050 Ti has little headroom there. Lower the resolution or the crowd rendering options if frame rate drops in towns.
The recommended spec targets the Low preset at 1080p. That is a modest target, so a card stronger than the RTX 2070 should let you raise the quality settings a good deal. Note that the listed presets are NCSoft’s compatibility guidance, not a promise of a specific frame rate.
One practical point: the game lists 8 GB of RAM as the minimum, but with Discord, a browser and the launcher open, 16 GB is the more comfortable number for a live-service MMO. An SSD is also worth it, since 100 GB is a big install and load times on a hard drive will hurt.
Release Date, Platforms and Price
AION 2 releases on October 5, 2026 for Windows PC through Steam and NCSoft’s Purple launcher. There is no Mac or Linux version on the Steam page. The base game is listed as free to play on Steam. A paid Founder’s Pack exists and gives five days of early access, from September 30 to October 4. As with any free-to-play MMO, check what the shop sells before you spend money, and decide whether the extras matter to you. Free-to-play also means the cost of entry is only the download and the time, so you can test how it runs on your PC before committing anything.
